Sonia Ahmed

Physiotherapist

Sonia graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physiotherapy from St George’s University of London in 2009. She spent four years working in the NHS, gaining experience in orthopaedics, elderly care, and neurological rehabilitation. During this time, she also completed her acupuncture training with the Acupuncture Association of Physiotherapy in the UK.

Moving into private practice, Sonia specialised in musculoskeletal health and sporting injuries, combining hands-on physiotherapy with acupuncture to support her clients' recovery. During this period, she began her training in Pilates, initially to assist with teaching community-based group classes. Her passion for Pilates and strength training grew as she witnessed the long-term benefits of integrating Physiotherapy treatment with the Pilates method.

Sonia completed her initial Pilates training with the Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute (APPI) before undertaking an intensive nine-month Master Training in Classical Pilates with a second-generation teacher in 2023. This advanced training deepened her understanding of the Pilates system and its role in addressing imbalances, improving movement efficiency, and enhancing overall performance.

After 22 years in the UK, Sonia returned to her hometown of Adelaide in late 2024. With over 15 years of experience in Physiotherapy and Pilates, she is excited to bring her expertise to the local community. She looks forward to working with clients in the Pilates studio.

Sonia is currently working at our Norwood clinic.
